Headteacher steering groups: applied learning specialism & 14-19 applied learning

Vocational Headteacher Steering Groups

The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust runs a number of headteacher steering groups linked to all current specialisms. The purpose of these steering groups is to use the collective expertise and experience of headteachers to consider how the specialisms and associated themes should grow and develop and to convey their views to the SSAT, the DCSF and other agencies.

Headteachers in these groups are expected to attend three meetings a year, to take part in electronic discussion between meetings and to be available as a channel of communication and source of advice for colleagues in other schools if necessary.

The SSAT has an applied learning specialism headteacher steering group whose purpose is to drive the development of this specialism. The membership of the group is made up of headteachers from schools who have taken on the applied learning specialism and the group meets once a term at schools around the country. The details of the group and previous minutes are available on the headteachers specialist steering group website.

The SSAT also has a 14-19 applied learning headteacher steering group whose remit will be to drive the development of all specialist schools as they offered applied learning across their specialism. For notes from the previous meetings or details of the membership of this group are available on the headteacher specialist steering group website.
