Applied Learning Specialism supports schools to champion applied learning excellence by developing and delivering high quality applied and work-related learning. Schools considering and taking the specialism should already have a strength in applied learning and will be expected to play a key role in driving up the numbers of young people achieving level 2 qualifications and increasing the proportion of young people staying on in education and training.

School can gain the specialism through the High Performing process or as a combined first specialism(see the FAQ’s for more information)

The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust is keen to work with all high performing specialist schools. It has a strong commitment to support applied learning, with a particular emphasis on local partnerships with business and other institutions.
