What are they?
The second phase of support workshops took place in spring 2008. These events provided an opportunity for all those planning delivery from 2009 to work with experts to develop an in depth understanding of diploma delivery and to benefit from practical examples of emerging good practice.

With the Gateway process behind us and the results still ahead, it is essential that the momentum continues to ensure effective and robust preparation for curriculum delivery and for the full entitlement to Diplomas for all learners by 2013.

SSAT regional diploma coordinators are working closely with consortia around the country to support their preparation for Diploma delivery from 2008. There are many examples of emerging good practice. This series of workshops aimed to capture these and provide delegates with practical advice and materials to help them with their planning for delivery of the Diploma and other curriculum reforms.

Aims

• To look at practical examples of innovative curriculum reform being developed in preparation for Diploma delivery and other curriculum changes
• To contextualise, using regional examples, the new pedagogy that is emerging in order to ensure that learners can develop effective personal, learning and thinking skills and functional skills
• To define what constitutes evidence for assessment and the classroom/workshop practice that will allow for personalised learning and assessment for learning to take place
• To provide an opportunity to explore some good examples of how consortia are working with employers to develop exciting learning opportunities for learners who will be working towards achievement of a Diploma

Who are they for?
These workshops are designed for all those planning delivery of the Diploma from 2009 and beyond and will not be suitable for those already involved in delivery from 2008. They are targeted towards:

• Local authority 14-19 representatives
• 14-19 partnership leads
• Head of faculty/department
• Curriculum planners
• Consortia managers
• Middle managers in schools, colleges and across consortia
