What costs are not covered?
The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust is not able to fund the following:
- Individual travel costs to the UK departure airport – Please note that it is not always possible to book flights from the nearest airport to the participant’s home town
- Subsistence during the visit
- Gifts for host institutions/schools
- Cancellation charges for reasons not covered by insurance – Where a participant withdraws from the visit, for reasons not covered by insurance, costs incurred by the SSAT will need to be reimbursed in full by the participant or their school
- Costs for changing names on flight tickets – All flights are booked in the name indicated in the participant’s application form, which should match the name on their passport. The SSAT is not able to pay for name changes.
- Passport renewals/visas (please note that for most destinations participant’s passports will be required to have at least six months remaining validity from the date of departure). Visas should be arranged independently of the SSAT immediately once your study visit application is deemed successful. Costs for these cannot be reimbursed
- Vaccinations/pre-travel medical costs – All participants are responsible for ensuring they are in good health to undertake their visit. They will also be required to ensure they have the necessary vaccinations, costs for which cannot be reimbursed
- Internal transportation costs for visiting the host school.
Important note: where our unit cost does not cover the proposed expenditure for the visit arrangements, the school involved will be offered the maximum amount available, providing they are able to identify funding to meet the balance.
