What ThinkQuest UK set out to do ... Between 2006 and 2008, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust operated a highly successful national competition in partnership with the
Oracle Education Foundation. Over that period, UK-based teams had access to dedicated support and advice with some remarkable outcomes, not least a steady growth in the number of UK sites in the
ThinkQuest Library, increasing international collaboration within teams and a 3rd-placed 12 and under team - Global Tales - in the 2007 international competition.
Our thanks and congratulations to everyone who took part in the UK competition ... and GOOD LUCK with entries to the 2009 international competition!
We hope that many of you will 'have a go' in 2009!
Whilst a national competition will not be running this year, the ThinkQuest UK team will continue to promote the competition to schools wherever possible. Not only are there some wonderful prizes on offer, ThinkQuest is a truly wonderful student voice opportunity where students take charge of their own learning and build capacity to take this forward for themselves. Meeting demanding deadlines, managing conflicting opinions and making contingency plans are just a few of the essential skills that students take away from the experience, in addition to having just plain old good fun!

Collaborative opportunitiesThinkQuest provides an excellent opportunity to develop cross-community and/or international working relationships. Students may choose to collaborate across local schools, or across urban and rural regions, or more widely with international partners.
The international competition includes an award for the website which addresses an issue of global importance and which examines a topic from a global perspective.
Form your team and register soon for the 2009 competition on the international website ... and THINK BIG!
