HSBC and specialist schools
HSBC has supported schools bidding for specialist status since the beginning of the specialist schools movement, to date supporting over 100 schools to the tune of almost £3 million.
In 2004, when SSAT launched iNet, (International Networking for Educational Transformation), the HSBC Education Trust became its inaugural supporter, and we are delighted that HSBC has just agreed to a further three years’ partnership, making it the Principal Supporter of iNet. In addition to this international work, HSBC still continues to support schools bidding for business & enterprise, language, or sports college status.
• Business & enterprise colleges fit well with the business aims of ‘The World’s Local Bank’
• HSBC focuses on language colleges, particularly those specialising in Mandarin and / or Portuguese, in recognition of two of HSBC's large markets, China and Brazil
• HSBC supports sports colleges because they foster teamwork and cooperation, which leads to greater confidence and higher academic achievement by all students
HSBC works with the schools in their local communities and in addition to financial support, always provides an HSBC sponsor governor to the school. Schools interested in seeking support from HSBC should write in the first instance to Nick Ryan at nick.ryan@ssatrust.org.uk.
