Corporate governance
The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust's (SSAT's) highest decision-making body is a board with 12 elected members, which is advised by two advisory councils.
The role of the board is to set the strategic direction for SSAT and to ensure that the SSAT is properly and effectively managed. Through a high standard of corporate governance the board will seek to comply with legislation, procedures and guidance from Government Departments, the Charity Commission and Companies House.
The two councils which have been formed to advise the board are:
The General Advisory Council
- the purpose of the General Advisory Council is to advise the board on relevant developments within the education sector to assist the board in setting policy and the strategic direction of the SSAT.
The Academies Sponsors Advisory Council
- the Academies Sponsors Advisory Council is to advise the board in relation to issues concerning academies.
